The death certificate is a requirement of the NSW Birth Death Marriages office. A Death Registration Form (DRF) is completed for each death in NSW. Completing the DRS Form Sydney Islamic Funerals provides each family a bereavement package which includes the DRS form. This form should be completed and returned to the Sydney Islamic Funerals within 7 working days. The DRS form can be returned to the Sydney Islamic Funerals office in person or emailed to admin@sydneyislamicfunerals.org.au.
Rritual washing /Ghusl includes washing the deceased’s entire body with water. Cleansing and purifying the deceased in preparation for burial by trained personnel (male and female). This may take up to an hour. Therefore our professional team will be here for you and your family during these tough times.
The Sydney Islamic Funerals staff is available to assist you with completing the DRS form. The Death Registration Statement form consists of nine short sections which have been outlined below:

Transport of the deceased from the place of death to the Sydney Islamic funeral premise.

A private viewing room for immediate family members and friends.

If required facility to keep the deceased overnight on premise

Specially trained male and female staff to perform ghusl (Islamic burial washing). Note: Allowance of up to 3 family members to assist with washing

Shrouding the body of the deceased

Performing the Janazah (funeral prayer) at Omar Mosque

Burial plot at cemetery advised by the family of the deceased

Transportation of the deceased from Omar Mosque to the Islamic cemetery section at Rookwood Cemetery or any other cemetery for burial

Imam in attendance to perform the burial rites at grave site and supports the family through this period.

Facilities made available at Omar mosque for the gathering on the third day (taalit) after burial

Imam to make arrangements for obtaining death certificate

All preparations Of the deceased are performed under strict Islamic guidelines, Currently there are no restrictions and all family member and friends are welcome to attend the funeral prayer and accompany the deceased to the cemetery We understand the emotional hardships faced upon losing a loved one. and as such, have also included a list of various grief counselling services to provide extra support during this difficult time.
A funeral director will serve and organise all funeral arrangements in line with Islamic Law.
